Separate Lies, Celador's second feature, was written and directed by Oscar winner Julian Fellowes and stars Tom Wilkinson, Emily Watson and Rupert Everett. Fellowes' directorial debut, Separate Lies received its UK premiere as the prestigious Mayor's Gala Screening at the London Film Festival and was released in the US on 16th September and in the UK on 18th November 2005.
The company's third feature, The Descent, Neil Marshall’s follow up to his 2002 hit, Dog Soldiers, was released in the UK on 8th July 2005 to outstanding reviews and has been hailed as one of the best British horror movies ever made. The Descent was released in North America by Lions Gate Films on 4th August 2006.
In February 2008 principal photography was completed on Celador Films' Slumdog Millionaire. Directed by Danny Boyle (Sunshine; 28 Days Later) from a script by Simon Beaufoy (The Full Monty), Slumdog Millionaire is a love-letter to 21st Century India. It tells the story of Jamal, an orphaned boy from Mumbai; his miraculous route to victory on Who Wants to be a Millionaire; and his quest to win back the girl that he loved and lost. Slumdog Millionaire will be released worldwide in 2008.
In May 2008 principal photography will commence on The Descent II, the highly anticipated horror sequel to be helmed by Jon Harris.
The company is developing a number of other projects, including: Selma, an original screenplay from Paul Webb telling the story of Martin Luther King, Lyndon Baines Johnson and the 1965 civil rights marches that changed America; 9th Legion, a Neil Marshall-penned epic about the legendary legion of Roman soldiers who disappeared in Scotland in AD 87; The Scouting Book for Boys, a dark coming of age tale from talented newcomers Jack Thorne and Tom Harper; and Patagonia, a Welsh-Argentine road movie written by Laurence Coriat and directed by Marc Evans. |
